My Guitar

(Just a couple of photos of my guitar that
turned out better than expected.)
I was given this 1977 Ibanez Artist for Christmas
of that year, and it was Axe #1 for my entire career.
I have replaced every single piece of hardware and
electronics between 3 and five times so only the wood
and frets are original, and they're all beat up.
It still sounds incredible, and plays like a dream.

Thanks, Mom. You Rocked.

Both are really good -- but that second one could have been The One. Better focus with greater DOF and crop out the highlights on the left (or light it more evenly) ... I can hear Music.

Yeah, I know.
This was the first actual idea and lucky test-shot, although 'Isolation' was the concept I wanted to use. (Who would expect 'street' from me?)
Kept going back to this one but the hand-held guitar part of the setup made it VERY hard to manage DOF and composition, so I wimped-out and didn't bother trying it again for real. Go w/your first instinct, Grasshopper?

If it's an idea that you keep returning to, it's worth making it work. (Even if it's only so to learn that it wasn't worth doing.) That's what always resulted in my best-received images, and those pictures that finally work are always my favourites. I've just re-visited one of my most difficult, and am still really happy with it.

... and hearing "oh, you should have used that one..." can get REALLY frustrating. It's nice to be the one saying it this time.
